The Liberia Football Association (LFA), in collaboration with the Confederation of African Football (CAF), on Monday began a three-day CAF Safe Stadium Initiative Workshop at its headquarters in Congo Town.

This initiative enhances safety protocols in football stadiums across Africa, ensuring that players and spectators are secure during matches.

Speaking at the event’s opening, LFA President Mustapha Raji reaffirmed his commitment to improving football in Liberia, stating that the event is one of the key components of his promises from six years ago.

Raji recalled his 2018 campaign pledge to enhance various aspects of football, including coach and referee training, administration, and sports medicine, underscoring that funds would be directly invested in football development.

He thanked FIFA President Gianni Infantino and CAF President Patrice Motsepe for their support.

LFA General Secretary Emmette Crayton also highlighted the significance of the workshop, calling it a milestone for the LFA. He encouraged participants to actively engage in the training and become ambassadors for stadium safety.

The workshop will gather 40 participants from various sectors, including the LFA Security Committee, Stadium Management, Competition Department, National Security Forces, and clubs.

Facilitators include CAF Safety Stadium Officers, retired Captain Nick Owusu of Ghana, and Aboubakar Sene of Senegal. Over 1,200 stadium safety officers have been trained by CAF to enhance safety across African football venues.
