Introducing the U17 Lone Star
After missing the previous edition of the WAFU A U-17 AFCON qualifiers, the U-17 Lone Star of Liberia are ready to make their mark at this year’s U-17 AFCON qualifiers in Senegal.
With a fresh lineup of talented players, the U-17 Lone Star aim to establish themselves as formidable contenders in the tournament. Despite facing tough opponents, the team is driven by a hunger for glory, especially following disappointing results from the U-20 and senior national teams.
Under the guidance of head coach Robert Lartey, the squad is prepared to defy the odds. Leading them on the pitch is captain and midfielder Cassius C. Pewee, whose leadership skills have earned him the role. Joining him is Ralph Weah, a tenacious forward known for his strategic vision and attacking prowess. Anchoring the defense is William Kilima, whose experience and leadership are vital as the team navigates this competitive landscape.
Another player to watch is Psalm Yisreal Richard Kolenda, who plays in Germany and is set to make his debut for Liberia at the U-17 level.
Most players on the roster recently participated in the Liberia Football Association U-15 national league, part of the FIFA Talent Development Scheme, showcasing the country’s brightest stars at the grassroots level.
The U-17 Lone Star are not only focused on winning the championship but are also eager to showcase their talents for potential scouting, as many scouts and football agents are expected to attend the tournament.
