LFA EC Unveils Key Decisions on Good Governance and Competitions
The Liberia Football Association Executive Committee, under the chairmanship of its President Mustapha I. Raji, met on 18 June at its headquarters to discuss several key issues, including good governance and the development of football in Liberia.
During the meeting, the following decisions were taken and approved:
1. To synchronize the male and female leagues, the Women’s Upper, Lower, and Community Leagues shall be renamed First, Second, and Third Divisions respectively. The First and Second Division Women’s Clubs Previously, Upper and Lower Women’s Clubs shall be admitted during the elective Ordinary General Assembly in 2026. All women’s clubs in the First and Second Division category must fulfill membership requirements as stipulated in the LFA Statute before admittance by Congress.
2. That, the review of clubs’ subvention reports shall be done quarterly during each calendar year by the LFA Audit and Compliance Committee, (march, June, September, and December). The subvention payment is restricted to the payment of the salaries of players and staff only. Clubs failing to adhere to these provisions shall be sanctioned based on the recommendations from the Audit and Compliance Committee.
3. To conduct an anti-doping and sports medicine workshop.
4. To extend the mandate of the LFA Statutory Auditor, KFA Consultant for three years.
5. Players and staff must obtain medical clearances from designated hospitals or clinics approved by the LFA Medical Committee.
6. Approval of the U-17 and U-20 boys budget submission to FIFA totaling USD233,289.00.
7. National 3rd Division Playoff format 2024. That is consistent with Chapter 3, Article 7 of the LFA Statutes, revised in 2018 and amended in 2021, 2022, and 2023. The new format of the National Third Division Playoff shall be played on a home-and-away basis across the four football zones, from the preliminary to the quarter-finals stages. The semifinals and final matches shall be played in Nimba County.
8. Mr. Emmett Crayton was proposed and appointed by the Executive Committee as the General Secretary of the LFA in line with Article 59.1 of the LFA Revised Statutes, amended 2021, 2022, 2023, to head the Secretariat.
